The Astrophysics Research Institute (ARI) at Liverpool JMU seeks to appoint two developers to work on joint Newton funded projects with the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT). The projects are in the areas of telescope control and data distribution and archiving and would suit candidates with either an astronomical or software development background.
Working as part of a team with other members of ARI and NARIT staff, the appointed staff members will lead the development of requirements, specifications and technology demonstrators for new systems. They will work with telescope operations and engineering staff in Liverpool and Thailand in order to learn lessons from the current infrastructure and anticipate the requirements of future facilities. These systems will ultimately be deployed on a range of facilities, including the Liverpool Telescope, various Thai telescopes and the future LJMU Large Robotic Telescope.
